Hellen Barczi
Being a teacher was always my career choice when I was young. I come from a family of educators that have dedicated their life to public education in the Pflugerville area. My family moved to Pflugerville in 1981 when my father, Larry Bradley, became the principal at Pflugerville High School. He was the principal at PHS for 28 years (even when I was in high school)! My mother, Cynthia Bradley, taught English at Pflugerville Middle School, Westview Middle School, Connally High School and Hendrickson High School. Not only was I a student in my mother's English class in the eighth grade, but we also taught together at Connally and Hendrickson High School. My sister, Reese Weirich, is the principal at Murchision Elementary School.
I had the priviledge of being educated in the Pflugerville Independent School District from my seventh grade year until graduation from PHS in 1987. I attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) and receieved my Bachlors Degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in History. My first teaching job was at Coppell High School and after teaching in La Grange ISD for a year, I came back to PISD and opened up Park Crest Middle School in 1995. I also taught four years at Connally High School before coming to Hendrickson in 2004. I have taught APUSH for 6 years and love the challenges of the course, but also the huge rewards of helping students achieve their goals.
Personally, I am married to Steve Barczi and he works for Austin Coca Cola. We have two daughters, Madison who is a 10th grader at HHS and Cynthia who is a 7th grader at Kelly Lane Middle School.
